Course Suggestion

Any chance of getting a course on making a silicone mask core? Can't buy one anywhere and a course would be helpful for working the silicone mask making course that is already available. Thank you!

  • Hi Jason,

Thanks for the course suggestion.  Silicone mask cores are definitely a subject we would like to cover in a future course.   That said, I can't promise any specific release dates.

    Thanks again!

  • You may have already figured this out,,, but for core molds, pressing clay into your mask mold (Make the thickness of the clay the desired thickness of your mask…using a clay cutting board will help get you perfect thickness sheets of clay so your core has a even consistent thickness…the clay board can be seen in Rob Frietas how to make a mold video when he shows matrix mold tips.) then pour plaster into the clay lined mold. This will become your core that you could also make a silicone mold of and make poly foam cores if you want a display mask. One important step is to have keys in the lower part of your sculpture so that when you press in the clay stage you do not press clay into the lower keys, this will lock and register your core in place when pouring. Bleeder holes are also a good idea in the core so the mask doesn’t get air bubbles.
