Foam Latex Shrunk/Collapsed after washing?

I am making a foam latex face prosthetic. After baking the prosthetic looked fine, but when I washed it as recommended, it lost most of its volume. The brows deflated, parts of it got distorted and it seemed to shrink quite a bit. I washed it by bathing it in water with a bit of dishwash soap as I saw recommended online.

Is this expected after washing a piece? Or did it not bake correctly? Can I do anything to maintain the volume in the piece?

Update: After a couple more bakes it seems like the aforementioned piece didn't bake long enough. I increased the curing element and gel element (just by a bit) and left it in the oven for an hour longer. Also seems like it needed to strap in a bit more tightly- I think a loose strap allowed the foam to expand more than it should have. All that appeared to correct the issue.
