Ergonomic Trigger Handle Designs

I'm currently remaking some puppet eye mechanisms, in which the eyelids are closed when a nylon wire is pulled. The old design for the trigger handle (while it did work and wasn't uncomfortable to hold/use) sat quite loosely in my hand, making it just a bit more difficult to keep a grip when squeezing and releasing it.

For this new one I might add a "D-guard" to the trigger itself so my fingers are more secured to the piece. I know I can also add grooves for fingers, add a wrist strap or use rubber/silicone to make the handle more non-slip.
What designs for trigger handles do you guys enjoy using/have seen used?
