Ferdinand the Cat
I designed and constructed ‘Ferdinand the Cat’ to explore puppetry and animatronics for the first time. Materilas include; aluminium, EVA foam, 3d printed parts, electronics, Worbla, rope, fur, and fabric. Inspired by ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’, ‘Sweet Tooth’ and ‘The House’, this character design and build took me 5 months. All the joints move with control rods, and the eyes, controlled by a joystick, look left, right, up, down and blink. The puppet is designed for live performance.
