Type of solder for cables?

In Rick Lazzarini's Organic Mechanics Part 1, he shows some techniques for "stepping" down a braided wire cable by clipping off outer strands and soldering the transition. What kind of solder is best to use for this application with braided wire cable, 7x7 and 7x19?

    You will be fine with any common lead-free solder.
