I have been making animal costumes of various types (but mostly cats) since 2001.

This cat starts on a vinyl dipped foam helmet used as a base with aluminum to give it structure.

Charcoal firm foam was added to give the cat shape then covered with various furs including NFT.

Lastly it was airbrushed to give it more character.
