Re: "Scanner Cop" & "Scanner Cop 2" special effects
My younger brother Anderson loves art. He reads in the Paragon education system, but he doesn't enjoy studying. Let me know what I should do. Tell me honestly what you think he should do.
Re: First Project Assistance
Welcome!
Finding material is always a challenge, and that changes greatly based on your location and the type of materials you are looking for.
If you are looking to get upholstery foam cheaply, your best bet may be companies that do upholstery or sell foam to upholstery companies. They often have scraps that they are willing to give away or sell at a discounted price. Finding larger pieces this way can be difficult, but you can also glue multiple small pieces together for larger projects.

First Project Assistance
I am new to the school/enrollment and I'm in Basic Fabrication, one of the main things I need help with though is where to find some of the materials for a low cost, such as the upholstery foam or the clay, basic but common materials like that. Thank you for your assistance!
Re: Apps and tools for impersonation cosplay
Hi Darrel,
Thanks for sharing the apps you used to help with the likeness. I would not have thought of some of those, super cool!
Very impressive how well you've matched the original subject.
One app that you may like (windows/pc/linux) is called PureRef. It lets you keep and organize a collection of reference images in a single document. I use it a lot in my own projects.

Re: Johnson furniture wax still good as a release for ultracal?
Hi Barry,
I've not heard much about the formula change on Johnson's Paste Wax. I know there's been a shortage of it in some areas. Unless they did something drastic to the formula it should work just fine.
Whenever a product changes or I try a new project, I like to do a small test first to make sure everything works as expected, but without the risk of damaging one of my main projects. If you're concerned about the new formula you could make a small test mold and see how the wax performs on it.
Does anyone have any experience with the new Johnson's Paste Wax formula, or have any info about it?

Re: Question about making a Foam Latex Oven
Toran, do you have a photo of your wallpaper steamer / oven setup? I'm very intersted in how it works. Thanks!

Re: Question about making a Foam Latex Oven
Hi Stephen,
You can use anything from toaster ovens, electric ranges, or even heat guns to make a homemade foam oven.
Here are some quick tips: Keep it well insulated so the heat does not dissipate. Line the inside with reflective heat-resistant material so the heat bounces around, a fan to circulate the air is a big help, monitor the temperature with a thermometer to make sure you don't over cook or under cook your foam, when you first build it, check the temperature in a few locations to watch for hot/cold spots, always keep a fire extinguisher next to it, and never leave it unattended.
Also keep in mind that the size/distribution/number of molds you place in an oven can impact its performance.
Here's a quick video of a homemade build:

The thing about a shark....
Shark's got lifeless eyes...like a doll's eyes...doesn't seem to be living...until he bites ya...and those eyes roll over white!
