The Eye of Sauron

As a huge Lord of the rings fan I had already completed a full suit of Sauron armor, so what could I make next to fill this desperate need to create another captivating cosplay? Barad-dur called to me and I answered. How do you make a building with an eye into a cosplay that's eye catching? I had too much fun experimenting and learning through trial and error the things that I wanted to incorporate into my interpretation of the character. I included a blind mask, which was not only a nod to the iconic Mouth of Sauron, but a way to remove the humanity a bit and let the glowing eye be the only window to a soul you stare into. The Eye which is funnily a painted Christmas ornament, has a special light which provides a moving burning effect. The fabric for the dress was painstakingly searched for, because none other fit the look that I wanted. I needed something light in weight, yet dark as Mordor. Something that was lovely, yet somehow twisted and not quite right. I needed, the one fabric to rule them all. I also could not find jewelry to adorn my character so I forged my own set of claw rings with chains in the fire of Mount Doom. The helmet was EVA foam that was hand cut, glued and painted. It was a magical journey creating this cosplay and an even more magical experience being able to wear it and see the reactions it receives. I enter this contest in hopes to add more mediums of creation which I would otherwise be unable to afford. I have enjoyed learning 3D design for my next big project that is nearly completed. Sculpting by hand is my next skill I wish to learn. Thank you for looking at my entry and for your consideration.
