Ideas Needed! Tentacle Makeup!

I need some Ideas for a project I'm planning. For a spooky pirate costume and makeup I want to have a big octopus tentacle over my upper chest area. Like its coming out of my body and wrapps around me/to my chest. But I dont really know which material would work the best and need some helping ideas from people who might have a little more experience in this topic than I have..

One option would be to carve it out of furniture foam and coat the outside in liquid latex after sealing it.
