Dante from Devil May Cry 2 by Liminal.Kiryuu
Agenda
This Dante cosplay was fully done by me in the course of 7 months. It was a project honoring the beauty of this game concept over the years by combining Dante's DMC2 outfit with weapons design from DMC5.
Garments
For the first 3 months I started with making multiple muslin prototypes of the coat and pants. Once I was satisfied with the fit, I started to work with pleather. The coat is made in bespoke manner, featuring shoulder pads, buckram fabric and boning for collar stabilization, full lining from thin suede leather like fabric and front visible zipper.
(Faux) Leather Goods
Gloves, belts, chest piece and cover boots were all patterned by me and sewn with different faux leather.
Building, Sculpting & Painting
On the belt I molded a removable skull hard-wear piece from Foam Clay. Once it dried I sanded it with fine sanding paper, primed, painted and sealed with varnish.
The 2 swords took me 4 months of making blue prints, cutting out EVA Foam, sculpting with Foam Clay, dying with spray paints, graphite powder, acrylics, oil paints (yes it took a long time to dry) and fake blood sealed with clear spray coating.
