Whalefall
When a whale dies and its body sinks to the bottom, whole ecosystems spring up around it and use the carcass as a resource for decades - a phenomena known as a 'whale fall'. This is my interpretation of nature's endless cycle. You can see a 360 degree view of the mask here.
