The Shinkaibaba - creature ball jointed doll (entry 2)
hi all - i'm a bit nervous about this as i don't post in a lot of places, but when i saw this contest pop up on facebook i knew i had to enter it. i'm a doll maker (specifically asian style ball jointed dolls) and creatures are my favorite things to make. i'm also learning on my own how to do stop-motion with them. i also use them as models for my photography (which can be seen on my instagram, artbyd2)
this second entry is for my newest creature, done off a design picked by my patrons on patreon (i'm going on a few months hiatus there, but will be back with more monsters ^^ ). this is the shinkaibaba, a mermaid like creature inspired by a rare anglerfish known as the netbeard seadevil. what's most awesome about this fish is that the teeth are not in it's jaw, but rather sit outside it and can be moved independently. so my girl of course has teeth that can move too (though only minimally).
