I was planning on doing the finger joints out of nylon tubing like Richard Landon did. Though, I'm not sure how nylon will fare in the baking process. the elbow and shoulder joint I was gonna use clevis joints. both of these I would wrap in the teflon tape before casting.

Thank you for your reply! So I've heard of people covering the ball and socket joints of stop motion puppets with teflon tape to then cast over them. Do you think that might work for a cable controled hand?

Does it need to be push and pull or just a pull cable? If it's just pull would tigertail the stranded beading wire work? It's like super thin bicycle brake cable wire.

So the GE2 is the tin cure kind? So it will cure all the way through better than the GE1? I have been having a hard time with my caulking paints curing (was using some of the silicone adhesives and GE1) so this is good info to know.

What's the difference between silicone 1 and 2?

I've used the silicone type 1 for other stuff like making the putty with cornstarch. I read the type 2 even though it's 100% silicone doesn't work. So wasn't sure if it was like that as I've seen very specific brands mentioned. People were saying to use an adhesive one as it cures faster. So I got the GE iron grip stuff…

Hey Chris, thanks for all the info. Many things I had not thought of. On the powders idea, a while back I had made a clay sort of stuff cooking down corn starch and water. I just wasn't sure if the le beau touche was comparable to the medium. It seemed kinda soft to me. I've never used medium or monster clay so I have no comparison.
