@"Chris Ellerby" and @"Matt Winston" Thanks both, it's almost become an obsession 🤣

Zombie thread alert. I thought I'd share my latest eyes after 7 months of trying. Since the ones above I've designed my own masters, printed them (I'm on version 3 currently) and made my own moulds. The eye community is pretty small and I'm lucky enough to have had pointers and help from most of the big hitters. I think…

Thank you @"Matt Winston", I owe it all to you, the artists and your wonderful school, it's as simple as that.

Hi @"Maximilian Schmid" , I demoulded two eyes today after clear-coating and leaving in the pressure pot for 24hrs, (the wait is the killer). I didn't use my blanket this time because 24hrs in the standard cure time in "usual" temparatures. I can happily say that following the JC (John Cherevka, not the other guy) method,…

Thanks Chris, I'll hit TG up about that, he's always very helpful. It's crazy that no-one has come up with a readymix base, though considering how much NOVOC's costs, it probably would cost a fortune. I can feel the naptha hangover already. Open windows!

Thanks @"Matt Winston". Frank Zappa was right... @"Maximilian Schmid" the heat is only really needed to speed up the cure of the particular epoxy John recommends. So if you can wait a few days between castings you shouldn't need to heat cure. I will let you know how the blanket performs as I'm casting cores at the weekend…

Hi Max, I made the jump and bought a pressure pot and a vacuum chamber to make eyes and John's excellent molds. The only thing I don't have is an oven for the cure. I looked at an electric smoker but they are hard to get over here in the UK, but Germany seems fond of them so you might be able to get one locally. Failing…

Day 2: teeth Realised it was hard to visualise the mouth with it filled so I scraped it out and started on the teeth. I also shaved down some of the bulk on the sides. WED is too difficult to so small stuff on when it's really moist so I left it for a while to firm up a little. Tried mirror the teeth best I can since…

Thanks Chris, the photo gives it a wierd anamorphic look, it's not as chinny as it appears. Check out the anime, it's full of blood mist, so what's not to like!

slush casting! I know it's not a crazy complicated process but you'd be surprised what tiny gems your teachers lay down even in passing comments!
-
Thanks Matt, keep up the good work. Your videos are keeping a lot of people sane right now, including me!

Thanks Chris, that was one I was considering so I think we're on the same page. I'll give that a good watch, maybe Rob Freytas' matrix tutorial would be good too on a rewatch. Should have bought that stone when I had the chance last month, still I guess that's a first world.problem right now :/ Stay well!

UK types: I've been told by Neills Materials that Herculite is actually what you should use for hydrocal in this country. It can be found online

@"Chris Ellerby" Thanks Chris!

@"Chris Ellerby" thanks, it's always best to buy the best it's just three times the price if I wanted 5 gallons. Still, it WOULD last... Instead of filling the mold and letting it set off, would manually rotating it work just the same if I used a smaller volume? Work on my biceps at the same time...
-
Thanks @"Maximilian Schmid" , that was my thinking too, it would be best to buy in country. I can't find it on formex, could you link me? However, I still wonder if dipping latex is actually slip cast latex with a different name?
-
Hi Kai, i saw you enquired about where to buy hydrocal. Some one recommened cystacal which we can buy here. Have you ever tried it in place of hydrocal for mold making and latex casting? EDIT: Looks like crystacal IS the alternative in Europe as can be seen here…

You could check out the BBC careers site and see if there's anything on there. Also be worth checking the credit on the show to see who was involved and stalk them on Linkedin. It's start! Then just get a working visa https://careerssearch.bbc.co.uk/
