Winning me some gold pressed latinum
-
I am so happy I have no real deadlines on my hobby. I am currently prepping costume and props for Mel Gibson as The Patriot, Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG1, Aquaman, and Denethor from Lord of the Rings.

Calling round one complete. My takeaways are: need full image cover on the guitar so no gaps show, need to do prosthetic work on nose, may need earrings depending on pose, need the one cross medallion he wore for many years, brown boots, use all three colors for jeans, more bandanas, may need tattoo work on forearm and…

Without further adoodoo, here are my first round trial pics for BILLY RAY CYRUS: I have only done two comp photos but will do the image likeness app, a split face (if possible) and some background swaps. The only editing is to brightness. My originals were very dark. Current highest likeness percentage is 86

One final note before uploading my first round trial photos. I have gained a LOT and should be around 15 pounds lighter for Billy Ray but time and circumstance decided first round scheduling. I am openly admitting that I am chopping off the bottom of these pics because I could not hide the weight. I have many tricks for…

Because fate had to step in, I got a huge, legendary huge, zit on the tip of my nose. I am a teetotaller from birth, no drinking, ever, as in never, but my nose looked like chronic alcoholic..."I'll gladly pay you on Tuesday for a burger today". I knew I already had to either shadow my nose, dehydrate the area or pull off…

Taking a short step backwards in time.....when my dye was done, I washed and conditioned it. Because, I knew I needed to get the sunbleached tips look, I needed to treat the ends. I use normal hair dye "developer" mixed with baking soda. I rubbed this into the last 8 inches of hair, rolled it up and put it in a ziplock and…

So, the wife had informed me that their school's Hobbit reading party was coming up quick and I procrastinated..... I am Bard the Bowman at these events. This meant the beard was coming off, so, I did my panic finishing touches and got these first round Billy Ray poses. This does mean that the next round will be after it…

I followed the wrap/bandana/rag trail: and decided on his use of the bandana as the rider's necktie. We all know what that particular use was back in the range days but here it is just decoration. I chose the blue like he is wearing in the arrowhead necklace picture. And as the necklace section was now 3 and the bandana, I…

Here is the pic of Billy with the arrowhead: My first successful one needed a loop backer but it kept breaking off, so, I used a separate one and super glued it to the back: Which is when I found this in my jewelry collection: My other scans produced a set of nickels that I continued to correct: My Adam Ant nickel ring…

The running theme in coats is "make it black or take it back". He rarely wears another color but I imagine denim and/or brown would still be in his style. I have a small trove of costume jewelry. Low value stuff that looks impressive when put in the right picture. I couldn't find a good closeup of his rings but they…

For clothing, I found a similar military style black overshirt and a blue tshirt which is a common combination for Billy Ray. Pants are generally always jeans, whether black, blue or gray. Mainly, following this look: Sunglasses can vary greatly for Billy Ray but usually fall in the category of large sunblockers, not just…

Totally forgot so here is my late thank you to: Hairy Creatures Series - Introduction to Hair Knotting Michael Ornelazfor the faux mustache orientation and application tips

I have been having a blast sharing this build with my friends and family. I show them my, "challenge accepted", meme and they say, "Oh, cool, are you going to do a Ron Swanson costume? Good luck on getting those brows and mustache." And then I ask them to look back at the meme and show them the white sheet in the…

Thank you both @"Alexander H" , @"Chris Ellerby" Definitely want the best of both worlds so likely will cut the face off the rubber skinned head with the hotknife and attach it to a laptop plank. Sonething that is portable but can be attached to an easle or layed on a desk and can be stored in a tupperware when…

But, my real breakthrough and learning experience was modifying my face with the prosthetic tapes. With the forehead, the tape pulled BUT with the ears, I needed them to protrude because Nick's earlobe is slightly larger than mine and slightly more away from the skull. I came up with a neat trick using nasal breathrite…

I put one image into my facial comparison app and it came back at 95 percent which is a strong indicator that the computer thinks it is the same person in both pictures. 95 is an incredibly high likeness level. As a test, I placed two pictures of the actor into the app instead of one of me and one of him. I made sure they…

Here are my splitface comparisons to see which features still needed changed.

I purchased a faux mustache and trimmed it to the appropriate shape and then wet it and combed it to shape. I finished wirh a curling iron before applying the mustache with Pros-aide. I trimmed away the extra lace around the top, after taking the photo below.
-
I added the facial mole by applying one drop of dermaflage. This is silicone color-matched to my skin tone. Wonderful product that mixes the silicone two parts in a single syringe unit. After waiting for this to harden, I added the dark brown center with mascara.
-
I needed to flare the nostrils but also to raise them while lowering the center ball. I used a mascara marker to blacken the lower 1/8 of my nostril. At ten feet it disappears and looks flared.

This shot shows the tape used only on one side for comparison:

The real work came in to achieve the incredible eyebrows. I tried two new products (to me) referred to as facelift tape:
-
The costume consists of a tan London Fog overcoat, a brown Polo 2 button shirt, brown-gray slacks, a brown belt and a chrome buckle with the crowning piece being the coonskin cap. My coonskin cap is all faux leather so will not hold its shape and needed to have an insert placed to hold the side wall shape. The buttons on…

So, late, late last night I finished Ron. Lots of technique here but I will create a full Ron thread and cover the makeup, effects, costume and props separately. After I finished the meme, I was just too tired to post so here is my closest comp pic to the original meme. The mole is there too but focus was lost after it…

I am dittoing Chris. Good brand and fits the use case. As for color, I think the base was not perfectly clear but was the color of the claw tips all the way through and then brushed over. It is doable on complete clear as well though with one base coat over the entirety and then layering brush stroke from claw base to claw…

I received two varieties of the facelift tape. The first is the conventional tape pad and cord combination that was displayed in Mrs Doubtfire. These allow a minimal tape area near the hairline but require an anchor point on the other end. Some of the cords wrap completely around the head to an opposing tape at the mirror…

seriously, having friends with mad skills makes life awesome....pay it sideways

Everyone always asks, "What should I put on an effects resume?"....... me pointing to this bench picture.....
