Busted Eye Silicone Prosthetic

Tested out this busted eye prosthetic I made. Going to use this for a feature film that's still in pre-production. I sculpted this in Monster Clay on a life cast of my face, made a silicone mold and plaster outer mold, cast in Dragon Skin silicone by Smooth-On. Painted with Skin Illustrator alcohol paint, and used Mehron Makeup for the bruising and fake blood. Thanks for looking!

    This looks really real!! it blends so nicely with the skin and the sculpt looks like real skin texture!! How did you make it so seamless? You did say that its a silicone prosthetic, so is it encapsulated in cap plastic or did you blend the edges with more silicone? On top of this, what did you make your mold for the prosthetic out of? I know a mould needs to be durable to withstand the pressure needed to squeeze out all excess silicone, and yet it needs to capture all the detail of your sculpt. I have tried to make prosthetics and I have yet to find a material to make a mould out of that is durable enough without being super bulky or heavy, ie plaster. I have tried smooth-on's shellshock, but it was somewhat fragile if it ever got to thin.

    @BoBn Thank you so much!! :)  So for the mold, I did a silicone mold first then Ultracal Plaster outer mold on top of the silicone. The prosthetic itself is encapsulated in acetone based cap plastic though I did have some blending issues with silicone getting caught in places it wasn't supposed to (mold not tight enough when casting the silicone), so for those areas I used 3rd Degree Silicone Compound to blend the edges into the skin, pro-tip using this stuff-vegetable oil blends the edges beautifully. 

    If you don't want to use Ultracal or plaster for an outer mold, Smooth-On makes a great product called Plasti-Paste and when it sets it's rock solid. It's a little on the pricier side though.
