Howdy folks! I'm putting a budget together for a feature length zombie movie based on a comic series I wrote. It's called Arise. I'll need at least one make-up fx artist and a prop designer/builder. What you'll do

Design and prototype high-fidelity facial mechanisms - small-scale linkages, actuator systems, compliant structures - that can convey humanlike motion
Build and test physical prototypes: from CAD and 3D prints to silicone assemblies and final test rigs
Collaborate closely with the rest of the team to integrate sensors, drivers, and motion control into a unified system
Own the mechanical stack: materials, tolerances, manufacturability, assembly, and test plans
Support early manufacturing decisions - DFM/DFA, vendor coordination, and rapid iteration cycles
Help establish engineering practices and documentation standards as we scale

Technical requirements

5+ years in mechanical design, robotics, mechatronics, or similar
Strong CAD and prototyping skills

Hi gang,

I am a Filmmaker and Effects Supervisor in Jersey, USA and we are currently in Development on a P.O.C. short film - hopefully going to be filmed on 35mm and if not then with either a ARRI 35 or SONY FS7 - featuring a young woman and her grandma both with out-of-this-world phenomena. We are going to use practical techniques of over a century on this one. The two women are going to be creature suits with radio controlled animatronic heads, and various other effects and Creature Characters in the script. I am going to be putting the word out soon after we secured financial capital to move ahead into Preproduction and I need a Crowdfunding Campaign Manager for that but immediately after we do I'll need a gang of Special Effects Artists and Craftsmen and Technicians to make the production move forward seamlessly.

Along with my Art Department's gang, I already built some Concept Set Models and Concept Character Maquettes, plus ran some R&D tests at my house with a friend but much to do still.

How do I know this will be a hit? Call it a gut feeling. On April 15, 2019 my production office gang read an email (see screenshot) from Slated.com the platform we were pitching on for investors that showed we nearly secured $11MM ($11,000,000.00) but much to our horror the investors pulled the rug out from under us which I'll get to that in a second, anything you could think of that could go wrong did and the process of Development slowed to a crawl, that is why the investors withdrew their capital, and it was a devastating blow to us all. Years ago in 2007-2017 my production company DreamFactory Entertainment had the financial capital in our bank's escrow and production account or the production budgets to fly all crew, Above-the-Line and Below-the-Line, to Jersey to work on our productions, but now that's all out the window temporarily, so we would appreciate it if you are living and working in Jersey, and legally able to work on this film, or know someone who is, please let me know.

I'm sure you've heard this cliche day in and day out on plenty of independent films or projects, but it's a great satisfying experience to be part of a film production and art department and effects crew, so much fun and camaraderie. At least with me and my company there is. We are hoping to make it as a feature motion picture provided our Marketing Department can secure the $175,000.00 for the P.O.C. Short Film first.

Iconic Horse Puppet (Stop-Motion also applicable)

Looking to hire a talented or upcoming artist for a naturalistic art horror project that requires a need for a 1.5-3 foot tall puppet horse creature or doll/figure if stop motion is your specialty!) with animatronic parts (if possible). Rod puppet preferred but string-operated is not out of the question if the animatronic portions can be accomplished. There are renderings to make the creature design a smooth process. Going for a realistic creature design with plenty of creative room. Budget negotiable, but I have been made aware of the proper material cost-to-labor and this being a small independent venture is the key to the project's future success.

Description:
A bald, reddened magenta colored horse rod puppet with a metallic grey shimmer in its a super fine coat of fur. Height of 2.5 maximum; compacted to the proportion of a starved filly. For the purpose of the film, we need a true-to-nature anatomical female design for the purpose of the film.

The face will have a coiled donkey fur covering except where the bone is exposed, but the furring can have a dark speckled grey pattern. You will may have to dab the tips of the furring to give it that unnatural gleam atop of the other elements described. Fangs combined with flat horse teeth. Forked tongue. Just the tip of the creature's skeletal nose will be exposed from the fur having shrunk around it like fossilized permafrost remains. Tarnished brown hoof nails, removable ram horns the same color as the Pangolin scales that cover its back up to the middle of it in the shape of an hourglass. The hooves in the front will be humanly articulated, being able to bend forward and back like a wrist. Large eyes preferred. Two sets of large eyes: realistic blind horse eye and a anime-styled (dead) fish-eye, and skin patches to go over them based upon the visual motifs of the film.

The skin should be scabbed like chemical burns, smooth in the face, and wrinkled from dehydration. A super thin coat of straightened hair around the backside like a pair of pants and a bikini at its neck-torso area, leaving the stomach and underside exposed. Shorter spiral pig tail with a deformed spade point. The spine should be that dark red color, mixed in with the grey to make it natural. A set of leathery dark limbed bat wings with inner pink skin transparency, purplish veins flatten its back. Make the under portions grey like necrosis flesh and recreate the yellowed skin of human fat around the genital area and the lips and under the ribs and in that gap at the hips. The stomach near the teats can be a rich yellow like oxygen exposed fat. Ultimately, resembling pink marble with its yellow (magenta!)-pink-grey hue (make it look like marbled ice cream, this is for a thematic film reason). Make sure the skin is transparent like regular skin while achieving all these specific colorings.

Will be exposed to water elements (rain, snow, mud) on its body it if you need to add a light protective coating on the skin. Will have to withstand water (coming from a hose).

Description of movement:
The horse puppet will have to sit, lay out flat, legs will have to maneuver like a horse but be jointed like a cat. 360 degrees of motion (or close to it), to stand like a horse, sit up like a dog. Needs to be rigid enough to set in place, stand by itself, maneuvering around like crawling under a bed. Breathable chest? The wings will need to flap and have some flexibility. The expressive face in the script will require the lips being made of rubber (or your choice of material) along with the movable jaw for talking but still be settable enough to hold something in its mouth. Moving ears, eyes, snout. The creature will bite, smiling, frown, have a retractable tongue.

The look you are going for is supposed to be a combination of the elements of a cave environment, natural texture and frame of a horse being subtly malformed by it meaning the noticeable bones (ribs, spine ridge, forelegs) are out of place for effect, bruises and chemical burn skin peeling effect for the creature having struggled in this environment but was too sick and starved. To indicate the cave setting having changed the creature's appearance to a degree. The exposed bone is yellowish to a dull yellow-black.

Also, make it surrealistic like a Hieronymous Bosch painting or Salvador Dali with the main inspiration being a medieval dragon painting. It will have to replicate that extravagant look if you artistically inclined to notice. We are trying to scare the audience with the look of the creature and win their support with it's face so I don't mind if you make it disgusting looking to the point of revulsion as long as it is realistic enough to do all the actions in the script without looking like it's body is going to fall apart due to gravity.

I've been a Civil Engineer for about 4 years and have come to find out that I'm not as passionate about it as the work I do after I clock out. I've been fabricating heavily for about 3 years out of my own pocket but I've known about character arts since I did my high school senior project on sfx building a full werewolf costume from scratch.

I'm located in Georgia at the moment and looking for any type of paid apprenticeship, entry level, intern position that anyone can point me to. I know it'll be hard because I'm not formally trained but I think if my attention wasn't split between what I'm good at and my day job, a lot can happen over a short period of time. Hello everyone!

My name is Mel Deorsola and I am an emerging filmmaker and recent UCLA graduate based in LA. I was referred to this studio in regards to producing a few costumes for my short queer monster film I'm currently fundraising for. "The Pink Menace" follows a group of college friends after a falling out, who find themselves being cornered and chased by grotesque, pink creatures. Virginia, the estranged friend, tries to put together the pieces as chaos and bloodshed mysteriously befalls each one of her ex-friends. I have been working closely with Our Small Majority Productions (oursmallmajority.com) as well as the UCLA Latino Film and Theater Association to produce this film and we are now in search of talented costume designers who are interested in bringing this vision to life.

I have a new version of the bed that uses a bendy foam so we can manipulate the bed more from below with rods. All the rods will be painted out in post production by myself.

An actor will be in the pillow head and will operate the arms. There are rods that move the blankets and rods that will move the corners of the bed.

The face is tracked and animated onto the pillow head in post. Anything can be adjusted with your input. Parts of this are still being adjusted and changed. I have a few friends that will be able to assist you with operating different rods, but I would want your experience leading us.

We are seeking the right person to join our team as an FX Artist, primarily fabricating existing products and helping develop new ones, via sculpting, mold making, etc. in the Upstate area of Greenville, SC.

Your primary duty will be required to work with many different materials, styles, and finishes. They must work with several different techniques including, sculpting, casting, and molding. Higher education in the arts preferred but not required if a strong portfolio can be presented. Ability to interpret 2D renderings and create a 3D model to scale Sculpt realistic. Must have some knowledge of 3D printing. On larger productions they could be tasked with making a wide variety of props. Cast objects using different materials selected for their intended use. Have strong artistic eye and be detail oriented. You must be a good communicator, highly organized and understand the importance of being a part of a team. You must have the ability to “think outside the box" to address issues, and solve problems in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Be able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Our attempts at finding a puppet creator have not gone well so I'm reaching out to see if there might be someone here who can help us in the next three weeks. We shoot mid January in Southern California.

She is looking for two things:

1. An 18" to 24" prehistoric birdlike puppet with minimal feathers....mostly just skin. The picture I'm attaching is the mother bird version of what she is looking for. The bird will need to be able to blink, open its mouth and raise one wing - the other wing should be broken.

It does not need to look perfect as in the story it shows up after slamming into a window (hence the broken wing) - however she does prefer it to look as realistic as possible, rather than comical or 'Muppet-like'.

2. A head mask, approximately 24" long in the spirit of the tall prehistoric creature in the attached photo. We plan to use RBFX prosthetics for the torso and are crafting a waist worn belt for the creature actor to wear which will support the tubelike neck. The mask needs to have a mouth that opens and would attach to the tubelike neck.

We are able to afford something in the ballpark of $1200-1500 for the puppet and $800-1000 for the mask. I'm sure it's a laughable amount, but we're really hoping someone out there with solid experience wouldn't mind 'paying it forward' to a young film student.
