Re: Tutorials length doesnt match description
The number in the description list isn't the chapter lenght, it's the time in the course when the chapter starts. Look at the first chapter. In the list it says: "Title & Introduction - 00:00:00" When you start the chapter, you see it's 2 minutes and 32 seconds long. And lo and behold, for the second chapter ist says:… -

Re: Servotor32 Controller Board for use with Arduino?
One servo board I really like (and I have looked at a few) is the Lynxmotion SSC-32. The advantage of this board is that you can control the SPEED of the servo's. i.e. Is one servo is at 90o and another is at 60o and you want them both to finish at 110o - you can tell the SSC-32 to move them so that BOTH servo's will… -
Re: Tutorials » How To Make An Eye Mechanism - Design, 3D Printing & Assembly
It's been a great time for animatronics with the influx of inexspensive servo and parts from the R/C arena. I also use parts from hobby robitics as I find the 24 and 32 servo controllers very good for testing movements. One I like is the Lynxmotion SSC-32u which handles 32 servos and can easily be controlled via USB, or a… -

Question on Marionette Size
by Shannon Cooke · · Home› Mastering Marionettes - Design, Construction & Performance with Scott Land › Homework - Mastering Marionettes - Design, Construction & Performance with Scott LandHi Scott, I have a question regarding size. You mentioned 32” as your rough size. Is there a reason other than the proportion to the head and mechanising as to why you have chosen this size? I measured 32” and it seems as though I would need to stand on a box to operate something this large in order to give some length to… -

Re: Where to buy Materials
Hi wolf no the EFP30 has the same density as the L200 (sorry we still use the imperial measurement system here, umm 32 kg/m is ~ 2 LB/Ft) the density on the upholstery foam should be ~19-20 kg/m and IFD stands for "Indentation Force Deflection" here is a fairly technical page on foam density if you are… -
Re: Homework - David DeMattia
@"Katherine Hannaford" The screw size is #4. (The 40 is how many threads per inch). By looking at the guide, the drill size on alum. for a 4-40 would be a #43 (tap) #32 (close file) and #30 (Free fit). Make sense? In other words, pick the number from the left hand column marked "Screw Size" (in your case a #4) then read… -
Re: Homework - Katherine Hannaford
So, during the week, construction has continued. I built the top plate by taping the thin plate and thick plate together to hold them in orientation while I drilled through. I was able to negotiate time in the school metal workshop to complete the really challenging drilling through the steel components and the… -
Re: What's the best way to attach tentacles at front of a harness and have the controls feed backward?
Stuart is correct about the expense of the cables. And with the lengths needed for this type of project the cost will add up. I'll provide a hypothetical example for this project based on a lot of assumptions. 4 tentacles, each 5 feet long. The performer's hips are 3 feet from the ground. The puppeteer needs to be 20 feet… -

Re: Szass Tam *Completed*
This is where mother nature was kind. It's Minnesota, the weather here is bipolar. There wasn't rain or ice or any other October weather weirdness. Also no leaves hit it sitting on the back of my truck. This was the toothy grin of the cosplay gods smiling down. What you're looking at is the mask with all it's skin layers… -

Simulacrum of a House
Inspired by Mark Z. Danielewski's novel, House of Leaves. "The puzzling part comes when Navidson measures the internal space. He carefully notes the length of the new area, the length of both bedrooms and then factors in the width of all the walls. The result is anything but comforting. In fact it is impossible. 32' 10"… -
Re: Finding the right micro control
The Lynxmotion SSC-32U is an excellent low cost controller for a large number of servos. It can also be extended by using an additional controller to handle more servos. http://www.lynxmotion.com/p-1032-ssc-32u-usb-servo-controller.aspx One nice things about the Lynx is that you can bundle (group) servo movement together…
