Acrocanthosaurus by Josh Ballze

My last entry into the contest.  Acrocanthosaurus!  Native to Texas, this 30-40ft monster had a medium frill which ran down its spine, which looks like the classical interpretations of Spinosaurus pre JP3.  It even looks like a T-Rex and Spinosaurs unholy offspring lol. 

I started with a more polished graphite sketch, and then from there did a digital painting with some texture treatments to keep a traditional painted feel. I hope you all enjoy and good luck to everyone!

  • One last pic highlighting the details for the Acrocanth, you can see bits of the animal textures and even paint patterns and textures from some of JP's original dinos used to bing him to life. :)
