The concept for Totem was a guardian creature who was part of a totem pole. The creature acts as a guardian of both the tribal lands and the burial grounds at the tribe's border. Anyone infringing upon this area awakens the sleeping spirit within the totem pole which manifests as this raven-like demon. Its victims are place upon poles as a further warning to future invaders or the unwary.
